The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made it easier for students to access information and complete school assignments. However, improper use of AI can also lead to dependency and reduce student engagement in the independent learning process. This study aims to determine the impact of AI usage on student learning independence when completing school assignments at SD Negeri 40 Bengkulu City. The study employs a quantitative approach with a causal-associative design. The population and sample consisted of all 25 sixth-grade students at SD Negeri 40 Bengkulu City, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was conducted via a questionnaire using a four-point Likert scale. The research instrument comprised 10 items regarding AI usage and 10 items regarding learning independence. Prior to use, the instrument underwent validity and reliability testing with 30 respondents from a class not included in the main study. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, normality testing, linearity testing, simple linear regression, the coefficient of determination, and partial testing using IBM SPSS Statistics. The results indicate that the data were normally distributed and exhibited a linear relationship. Regression analysis yielded a significance value of 0.000. The partial test produced a t-value of 5.542 with a significance of 0.000, while the regression coefficient of 0.744 indicated a positive influence. An R-Square value of 0.572 indicates that AI usage explains 57.2% of the variation in student learning independence, with the remaining 42.8% attributed to factors outside the scope of this study. Thus, the use of Artificial Intelligence has a positive and significant impact on student learning independence in completing school assignments at SD Negeri 40 Bengkulu City.
